Praying with the Scriptures (Lection Divina overview) https://www.usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/how-we-teach/catechesis/catechetical-sunday/word-of-god/upload/lectio-divina.pdf

Homilyprep.org – a service of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, include weekly homily reviews and resources for priests and deacons, but is very helpful in unpacking the readings of the week.

Dr. Scott Hahn's Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. Includes maps and topical sidebar discussions. A deep dive with comprehensive and well-explained footnotes, but not at an academic level. Very useful for Bible studies and meditating on the Word of God and its meaning in our life. (See also https://www.scotthahn.com/  and https://stpaulcenter.com/ )

A good Bible Handbook or overview. There are many out there, but I prefer the New Jerome Bible Handbook, because I also use the full version of the Jerome Handbook for my academic Scripture studies. It is also very approachable, written for a general audience and has lots of neat pictures to help put things in perspective.

I also like the Dictionary of the Bible by Fr. John L. McKenzie, SJ. A very deep and sometimes academic, but good resource none-the-less. Other free Bible Dictionaries online are also here:

I also use the Bible Lexicon tool at StudyLight.org: https://www.studylight.org/lexicons/

Blue Letter Bible has a similar, although less comprehensive, tool: https://www.blueletterbible.org/

Weekly Scripture commentaries & reflections. These can be helpful to frame some of the issues and give some useful background on the weekly readings. A few of my favorites:

The God Minute podcast. https://www.thegodminute.org/  A beautiful daily podcast integrating prayer, Scripture, music, and reflections from a wide array of priests, religious, and lay people.
